A Joke with Nursing Shoes |
||
| My family and I are living in a rather big
house, in a suburb. My family is large - we are four: a mother, a father,
my little brother
Aidan and me. Our old grandfather lives with us too. He is very old and
pretty sick. But we haven’t enough time to look after him properly.
Our grandfather understands that we have our own life and he is not offended,
on contrary, he says that he is a burden to us, but it is not true, we
love him very much. He even wants us to bring him into a retirement home,
but my mother objects this idea, because he is her father, the nearest
person in her life. My mother is a broker, she works all day long, and my father always travels on business, I am studying at University and attending some special courses, and Aidan is going to school and he is in punk band, by the way, parents doesn’t approve it, so it is difficult to grandfather to sit alone all day long, besides he needs a good treatment. And my mother decided to hire a nurse. She is a very kind, smart and nice woman of middle age and her name is Mrs. Johnson. She comes every day except Sunday. She gives him injections, walks, talks with him, sometimes cooks and sometimes they play chess. They have a good time together. She is a good company for our grandfather. She gives us a big favour and we are very much obliged to her. As she has a lot of moves a day, she wears nursing shoes, because as she says, they are soft and very comfortable for her employment. One day Aidan decided to make a joke on Mrs. Johnson. He always makes stupid jokes. But that he is. So, when Mrs. Johnson snatched a nap Aidan painted pictures on her footwear. It was different pictures on different shoes. On the first was a pink rabbit and on the second Mickey Mouse. It was our mother who first mentioned these pictures. Mrs. Johnson was shocked and our mother felt embarrassed for such naughty child as Aidan. But our grandfather liked these pictures. Nevertheless my parents had to buy new nursing shoes to Mrs. Johnson, as an old one she couldn’t wear. |
